Morphogenetical survey of wild mice captured from Anmyon-up and Kumi city

Abstract
The morphometrical characteristics such as external measurements and mandible size assessment in mice have to be highly heritable and sufficiently variable among strains. In order to compare morphometrical characteristics between Korean wild mice and inbred mice, total body length, tail length, head length, hind foot length, ear length and body weight were measured and then statistical analysis were carried out by discriminant analysis. Korean wild mice were captured from Anmyon-up and Kumi city. The coat color of M. musculus subspecies captured from Anmyon-up and Kumi city showed white belly in ventrum and typical agouti in dorsum. Thus, we presumed that genotypes for coat color of Korean wild mice were AwAw/BB/CC. The percentage of correctly classified groups by discriminant analysis were 100%, 85.7%, and 100%o for the Anmyon-up wild mice, Kumi city wild mice, and C57BL/6J, respectively. Tail ratio of the M. musculus subspecies captured from Anmyon-up and Kumi city is significantly different (p$lt;0.01) compare to inbred mice by student¢¥s t-test. These results show that the M. musculus subspecies captured from Anmyon-up and Kumi city have a unique genetic background compared with this of inbred mouse by morphometrical characteristics.
